What a year for the Student Section this football season. We have eight new student sections in our SoCal Top 25 and this seems to be the theme this season. With Student Section craze on the rise, new student sections have pop up. Well, they aren't new, but new to the Social Media world. In order to be the best and be recognized with the best, you have show off your school spirit. We saw insane themes and fog machines galore. Places like Party City owe a big thank you to these student sections you're about to see in this list. The fog machine was a big thing as well as the streamers and we know that because the best student sections showed it off. We expect next football season to go wild in the...
I’m sure I said this before, but Los Alamitos Locos has the blueprint on how to run the perfect student section. The themes, props, large crowds, home and away, big heads of local sports reporters and a ‘Manny-quin’, which is a mannequin of yours truly. Well played Locos! The Griffins lost some big stars and had to face the challenge in a tough Sunset League. That’s where the Locos made their presence felt. “Our student section rolls better than any section I’ve seen in 34 years of coaching.” Los Alamitos head football coach Ray Fenton said.  The Locos rocked it from the get-go, taking the SoCal Student Section of the Week title on the opening week. Normally when a student section wins it early, they quiet down a bit on social media, but the Locos...
The student section game has improved drastically and the San Diego improved in showing off their student section in 2019. While we moved from a Top 20 Ranking to a Top 25 Ranking list, we added five new student sections to the list, but three more student sections make the list this year after missing out last year. The student section game was strong this year that we have to recognize five other student sections that barely missed the cut. Student Sections like Hilltop of Chula Vista, Coronado, Montgomery of San Diego, San Pasquel of Escondido and La Jolla Country Day were noticed and it hurts to not add them on the Top 25. What helped in making the Top 25 this year is Social Media. What might be a must for the Student Section...
The student section game has improved drastically and the Orange County pretty much wrote the script on how you’re supposed to make the Student Section game competitive. In order to make this a competition, social media marketing needs to be consistent. If you want to get recognized week after week, you need to share it and let everyone know you’re the best. Plus, it sounds like school leaders have made friendships. Who knew?! No social media game means you may be missed. Like a tree falling with no one around, it makes no noise. While we moved from a Top 20 Ranking to a Top 25 Ranking list, we added five new student sections to the list and only two more student sections make the list after missing out last year, so we had some...
The student section game has improved drastically and some Los Angeles Student Sections finally took notice to the competition. While we moved from a Top 20 Ranking to a Top 25 Ranking list, we added five new student sections to the list, but three more student sections make the list this year after missing out last year. The student section game was strong this year that we have to recognize five other student sections that barely missed the cut. Student Sections like the Warren Cave of Downey, Royal Kingdom of Simi Valley, Grace Brethren of Simi Valley Red Zone, Saugus Blue Crew, and the Newbury Park Panther Pit were noticed and it hurts to not add them on the Top 25. What helped in making the Top 25 this year is Social Media. What might...
The student section game has improved drastically and the Inland Empire played a huge role in that. While we moved from a Top 20 Ranking to a Top 25 Ranking list, we added five new student sections to the list, but five more student sections make the list this year after missing out last year. The student section game was strong this year that we have to recognize five other student sections that barely missed the cut. Student Sections like Don Lugo of Chino, Santiago of Corona, Damien of La Verne, Cajon of San Bernardino and Chino Hills were noticed and it hurts to not add them on the Top 25. What helped in making the Top 25 this year is Social Media. What might be a must for the Student Section game to work...
With the biggest game of the year, you know the Centennial Dawgpound of Corona was going to show up ready to go! The Huskies faced St. John Bosco of Bellflower in the CIF-SS Division I semifinals and while it was a tough task on the field, the Dawgpound never quieted down as they showed their love for their football team. The Dawgpound brought the noise and if they brought the t-shirt cannon, careful everyone. The last time I was at Centennial, my laptop almost took the fatal hit from a t-shirt that made its way to the press box! I should have paid attention. Rocking their school colors, the Dawgpound made a final strong impression with the Inland Empire Top 25 Football Student Section Rankings. https://twitter.com/cen10dawgpound/status/1198082036906389505 The Dawgpound handled the voting part and after getting...
The final Football Student Section preview for 2019...seems like yesterday when I started to try and call out student sections or highlight them. With the SoCal Football Student Section Rankings just two weeks away, this is a great final impression to either break into the Top 25 or take the top spot. Before we checkout the potential student section battles in Southern California, let us recap what went down last week in the world of Student Sections.   LAST WEEK STUDENT SECTION RECAP In San Diego, the Oceanside Ship brought their school spirit on the road when the Pirates faced Steele Canyon of Spring Valley in the quarterfinals of the CIF-SDS Division I Quarterfinals. The Ship sailed into town and went wild. They may have known that the Cougars were big favorites, so Oceanside needed...
Photo credit/@haleymsawyer   What West Ranch High School Student Section and the rest of the William S.Hart School District Student Section did gave us hope for humanity. The sad and tragic news last Thursday broke the hearts of many and shook a community. On Thursday, November 14, a student fired shots on the Saugus High School quad, killing two students before turning the gun on himself. https://twitter.com/SaugusAthletics/status/1195101549640290304 Covering Sports and Student Sections for several years, you fear that this will happen to a school you’ve been to or covered, but this hit too close to home. I’ve been to the Santa Clarita area for more reason than sports. While I used to be a freelance writer for the Santa Clarita Signal, I also I have family in SCV and a cousin that attends West Ranch...
To all the student sections who had football teams on a bye week for the first round game, let me just say, Welcome back! Last week, finding the four top student sections in Southern California wasn’t as easy compared to the last few weeks. Some student sections said it will be easier with their return. Let’s hope they’re right. Let’s see the student sections that did stand out last week before we preview the student section battles for the CIF Quarterfinals.   SOCAL STUDENT SECTION FIRST ROUND RECAP  Last week after falling short a few times in taking the title, the Valencia Viking Nation finally ended on top as the SoCal Student Section of the week.  Despite the 17-7 season ending loss to San Clemente, it was a strong final case for the Los Angeles...
