I wonder if we will ever have an LA Student Section to take the SoCal Student Section of the week crown? We’ve only had one San Diego student section take the SoCal crown. The Inland Empire has been rocking it this season while Orange County has a large group of great student sections. Hopefully the other two regions bring some great student sections to battle with the OC and the IE. Before we check the top student section battles in Southern California for this week, let’s recap last weeks top student sections.   WEEK 7 SOCAL STUDENT SECTION RECAP Over in San Diego, the San Marcos Blue Crew made a second straight appearance to the SoCal of the week voting poll after the Blue Crew battled in the stands again, this time against El Camino...
While Orange County has a large amount of great student sections, it is the Inland Empire that has the powerhouse ones. For the fourth time this season, our SoCal Student Section of the week champion hail from the IE and for the second time this year, it is a Baseline League student section! We’ll get to the champs in a moment. Meanwhile in San Diego, the San Marcos Blue Crew seem to be the boss when it comes to marketing themselves as a school with amazing school spirit. The Knights had a battle with El Camino of Oceanside and I’m sure the Blue Crew battled with the El Camino Jungle. https://twitter.com/sm_bluecrew/status/1183090451860996097 In the end, San Marcos snuck by the Wildcats in a 13-12 victory. The Blue Crew representative San Diego for the third straight week....
A tie? Yes.  One game was cancelled due to the air quality. Cleveland of Reseda will look to be co-champions with Birmingham of Lake Balboa in the West Valley League.  With the tie, I went 13-6-1. I mean it’s a slight improvement. Let’s eat my words in six of those games. In the Inland Empire, I went with Linfield Christian of Temecula over Ontario Christian. I was off by a touchdown. I guess I won’t get Knighted for that one. Bad pun, sorry. In the Los Angeles region, I went with the theory of ‘To be the man, you got to beat the man!’ Well, Culver City is the man after beating Lawndale. Well done! I should have gone with that route when I picked Hart of Newhall over Valencia. Valencia is still the man...

We have past the halfway point and we are noticing some student section that were not on our radar. We may have four new regional student section champions in December, but there’s still time for the defending student section champions to repeat. Work the social media game and defend your title. Before we checkout some of the top student section battles in Southern California this week, let’s take a look at last week student section recap. WEEK 6 SOCAL STUDENT SECTION RECAP In San Diego, the Cathedral Catholic Los Locos of San Diego went crazy, which is fitting since that their name. Los Locos went wild and so did the Dons in their 50-14 victory over Point Loma of San Diego. It was a student section battle in the Avocado League that caught my eye....
There is something brewing with the students in the Coachella Valley area.  School spirit and rowdiness in the stands is starting to get noticed over in the desert.  We’ll get back to the desert in a minute, but let’s take a look at the other three finalist for SoCal Student Section of the Week for Week 6. Over in San Diego, the San Marcos Blue Crew made a second straight appearance in the polling. The Blue Crew has been amazing in the stands, but the one thing they have improved this year has been their social media game. https://twitter.com/sm_bluecrew/status/1180600937267658752 With San Marcos facing La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad on the road in a big Avocado League matchup, the Blue Crew went road warriors and rocked the stands with a student section battle with the La...
I bragged after I went 17-3 last week. I jinxed myself. I went 12-8. That’s the second time I went 12-8.  Let me make my amends to the eight teams and hopefully I can go 17-3 next week to continue this pattern. I was four points away from getting Los Osos of Rancho Cucamonga right, but Etiwanda snuck by. It helps to have a student section like the Red Zone by your side. I should have gone with the “To be the man, you got to beat the man” theory. I picked Xavier Prep of Palm Desert over Palm Springs. Palm Springs still rules the desert. Speaking of being the man, while Alemany of Mission Hills is on fire, I should have gone with Bishop Amat of La Puente. Whoops on that! I knew Loara...

I’m just glad Week 5, otherwise known as the bye week for many teams is over. Week 5 is normally the week teams take the week off, which means it gets tougher to find some quality student sections. Don’t get me wrong, they’re were some good student sections, but they just never post a video or a photo of their student section and therefore will never get the recognition from me. Also, posting videos of just the Homecoming festivities at halftime, isn’t showing off the student section. Just for future reference. Hopefully we get some student sections showing off their school spirit and if they do, it won’t be so hidden. I’d like to get some sleep. Last week took hours for me to find a student section from all four SoCal Regions. Really it...
Week 5 is now a week where football teams take a week off after playing in Week Zero. A nice rest up before the start of league. This is also the perfect time for student sections to make noise and make the best of getting recognition in Southern California with the powerhouse student sections on an off week. Shadow Hills Dungeon of Indio did this three years ago, Los Osos Grizzly Nation of Rancho Cucamonga did this two years ago, Ontario Jag Jungle did this last year. This year, it was the Cathedral City Black Hole. I am very familiar with Cathedral City. See, I got hired as an announcer for the Max Prep Holiday Classic in 2011 when Cathedral City High School was the main gym for the top games in the country and...
